In the first few weeks of term 2, the students have been working to perfect the art of soap making.
Having conducted a bacterial growth experiment in week 2, the students discovered the effectiveness of soap in preventing the spread of harmful bacteria. From there, research groups were formed and each team had to refine two soap recipes through test-retest to the point where it could be a functioning substitute for what they purchased in their local supermarkets.
After experiencing mixed success, most groups narrowed down to a working recipe by problem solving the issues they came across in the testing phase. Each group then had to design and 3D print a mould so they could produce a final product ready to be displayed at Principal’s Award Ceremony. Make sure you come along on the day to see how they went!
